The Client

The Barbour story began in 1894 in the Market Place in South Shields and even today, some of the 5th generation family-owned business classic wax jackets are still manufactured & repaired by hand in the factory in Simonside.

The Barbour brand now has retail stores presence in over 55 countries worldwide including the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Holland, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, New Zealand and Japan, with Collections that cater for men, women, children and now even dogs! Their heritage and lifestyle clothing brand produces clothing that is designed for a full lifestyle wardrobe and includes shirts, dresses, knitwear, footwear, accessories and more.

Barbour remains true to its core values as a family business which espouses the unique values of the British Countryside and brings the qualities of wit, grit and glamour to its beautifully functional clothing.

The Brief

Barbour as a brand creates masses of content and is constantly looking for ways of sharing this in an engaging way, with both their external audience but also in the form of internal communications.

In our initial conversations with them, Matrix were tasked by the global brand team on how, with our experience we would approach this given the accurate brief and abundance of content.

The Solution

The Sizzle Reels created provide the brand team with a showreel that encompasses brand marketing activity over the given period and with the visually engaging content helps tell the brand story effectively. Matrix introduced efficient tools and ways of sharing the animation and editing process, making collaboration and feedback for client easier, allowing us to work together at pace to a high standard and bringing the final reel to approval stage in advance of the tight deadline and on budget.

The Results

The client was so happy with the standard of the work and the production process that Matrix have since created three further ‘sizzle reels’ for the Barbour brand team, varying in style, pace and content but following the tried and tested process. A great example of how a client with a given need finds a partner with solutions that tick all the boxes on quality of final edit, speed of production and close attention to cost.
