Network Rail – Commonwealth Games
The Client
Network Rail owns and manages the whole of the UK’s rail infrastructure. They work to provide a safe, reliable experience for the millions using Europe’s fastest-growing railway each and every day.
The Brief
The 2022 Commonwealth Games is being held in Birmingham over July & August and with many of the visitors using the rail system to either travel into the city, or between venues, there was a need to make passengers aware of planning their travel before the games started. Also, during the events it is expected that some stations may be busier than usual, so again getting that message across to all users of the railway was key.
The Solution
The client finds that Twitter is an excellent platform for getting both ‘check before you travel’ messages and real time updates to passengers. We designed a suite of assets themed around the sporting event using the track, pool and court locations, so they would be easily recognisable as being related to the Commonwealth Games. In addition, we produced formats that could be used in stations on large format screens and some supporting printed posters.
The Results
Both the pre-games and station specific assets have proved very useful for passengers. The client is extremely pleased with the creative and the simple, clear messaging we developed.
